Mugamoodi races towards release

UTV is currently busy with two of the most promising projects in the pipeline, Mugamoodi and Thaandavam. Both these teams are working on tight deadlines and UTV is also giving their best to support both these teams as they get ready for release.

Mugamoodi is being planned for censorship next week. The film is set for an August 31st release and the entire shoot has been wrapped up including the song shoots in exotic European locales. UTV's Dhananjayan updated so, in his micro-blogging page

What's exotic about Maattrraan's locations?

KV Anand is known for his exotic locations for song picturizations. In Ayan and Ko he took the audiences along on a literal world tour, during the song sequences, across places like South Africa, Namibia, China and Norway to name a few.

For Maattrraan he is contemplating shooting a song in Brazil along with his lead pair Suriya and Kajal Aggarwal. Also heard, he is thinking of European locales for another song.

Looks like another visual treat is in store

Will it be Amala Paul for Vijay?

Amala Paul is on a roll these days. Not only is her career red hot but she has recently obtained a degree in Communicative English with a thumping total of 88 %. Now the latest buzz is that she is likely to play Vijay's heroine in his next film to be directed by AL Vijay.

AL Vijay and Amala Paul worked together in Deiva Thirumagal and Amala Paul got rave reviews for her performance as 'Periya Dinosaur'. The Vijay - AL Vijay film is being produced by Chandraprakash Jain and is scheduled to begin shooting in September once the actor and director are done with their pending projects which are Thuppakki and Thaandavam respectively. According to insiders the film will be a massive entertainer.

Suriya teases KV Anand

Maattrraan’s second teaser was released at the grand audio release function held in Singapore yesterday. Suriya, Karthi, actor Sivakumar and his wife, Harris Jayaraj and family, KV Anand, Gautham Menon, AL Vijay, Lingusamy, Hari, Thamarai, Peter Hein and many more celebrities graced the event.

The new trailer is gaining popularity in the internet and is creating more curiosity. During the end of the trailer, there is a scene where Akilan, Vimalan and Kajal are watching KV Anand’s previous film Ko. In this scene one of the two Suriyas teases saying, “Why does this director bring in a song every time somebody dies in his film?”

This is not the first time KV Anand has used his sense of humour to mock himself. In Ko, he had made Pia Bhajpai, who plays a journalist, take on his own film Ayan. He probably will bring in sarcasm on Maattrraan in his next film.

Another director who uses a similar tactic to bring a smile among the audience is Gautham Menon. He had mocked his own film Vaaranam Aayiram in Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya. In VTV, one of Simbu’s dialogues was, “Few guys even go to America in search of their love. I just came to Allepey".

Ajith picks Sridevi's birthday

Now the news is that the actor will be shooting his part of the film on August 13th. Incidentally, Sridevi’s birthday falls on the same day. Ajith sure is preparing for a surprise for her.

Meanwhile, the shoot for the Ajith-Vishnuvardhan project is expected to resume in a week or two in Mumbai. We also hear that Ajith is featuring as a hacker in the film. Arya plays the bad guy and Nayanthara and Taapsee play the female leads.

Vijay gets Thuppakki

AR Murugadoss is under a lot of stress, with the shoot for the film on one side and the title issue against Kalla Thuppakki on the other side. But good news reached him recently. The murmur is that Vijay TV has bagged the satellite rights of Thuppakki for a huge sum. Vijay TV had also previously bought the Vijay starrer Nanban for a massive sum of Rs 12 crores.

Thuppakki features Vijay, Kajal Aggarwal, Vidyut Jamwal, Jayaram, Anupama Kumar, Sathyan and Deepthi Nambiar in pivotal roles. Santosh Sivan is helming the latest ARRI digital technology and Sreekar Prasad is before the editing desk. Harris Jayaraj is composing music for the film.
